The People's Palace
Royal Festival Hall
South Bank Centre
London
SE1 8XX
Fitting, isn't it, that the People's Palace should have the best view of London? It's also a convenient five minutes walk away from the London Eye - another good view depending on the weather! Add to that the confident cooking and professional, friendly staff, and diners find they tend to linger. The clientele is as eclectic as the menu. What's cooking: Influences are wide and varied - New England corn chowder, tarte fine of artichoke, onions and dolcelatte, risotto of tomato, oregano and mozzarella, rump of lamb with shepherds pie and baby onions. Apparently the people are wild about the sticky toffee pudding. Eclectic wine list, too. A dozen are available by the glass.
