The 11th Commandment
58 Carter Lane
London
EC4V 5EA
Step off Carter Lane at number 58, open a secretish door and you enter the eccentric world of 11th Commandment. Not eccentric in a space-hopper seats and roller-blading waitresses kind of way, but in its chic candle-lit cosyness. Being just one, dark-wood-panelled room, groups of 40-45 fit just nicely. A list of 60 or so good cocktails are the main selling point, but if you fancy nibbles with them, as you're wont to, 11th Commandment does a tasty line in platters - crunchy nut chicken, calamari, spring rolls - that kind of yummy thing. Should you happen to be a fan of the food at Detroit in Covent Garden, your choice from that menu can be brought over to the City for your event (how come? Detroit and 11th Commandment share one owner). The 11th Happy Hour lasts from 5.30pm to 8pm and means you pay just £4 for a cocktail. Excuse the peculiar turn of phrase, but Fidel Castro (vanilla rum, lime juice, sugar, ginger beer) comes highly recommended.
