Celebs, politicians and business folk in the mood for a City Indian tend to go to Sonargaon, a spacious, well-designed restaurant on Osborne Street, two minutes from Aldgate East station. At once both formal and relaxed, it is a light, stylish space. From 6pm to midnight every night, fragrant fresh dishes are served Mughal-style. Signature dishes include the house goshi, and murg (i.e chicken) masala. You might like to start with jhinga kashi - saffron flavoured jumbo prawns. Vegetarians are well catered for. Lunch (12 - 3pm) and pre-theatre specials start at a very reasonable £12 for two courses. Happy hour lasts from 6 to 8pm. While there isn't a children's menu, the young 'uns are welcome before 9pm.
