Sand Bar and Restaurant
156 Clapham Park Road
Clapham
London
SW4 7DE
By all accounts, Sand has got it right. The design of the bar and dining room are very now, with cool ethnic objets tucked into cubby holes and tiny LCD tvs playing movies, while there is often a fight for the comfy suede cube seating. Early in the week, it's a fine venue for an intimate dinner, but as the weekend nears, the volume gets pumped and the clients are ready to party - go for the craic. Or go for the good beers and wines and the fun cocktails, as well as the globally omnivorous menu. Try starter of seared Isle of Skye Queenie scallops with coriander, chilli and lime butter, and main course of slow roast pork with garlic, tomato and tagliatelle. The fruit sushi dessert is intriguing. The ambience is genuinely friendly.
