Phene Arms
9 Phene Street
Chelsea
London
SW3 5NY
The Phene Arms is a lovely little place, all handsome Victorian brickwork outside (the original Phene has been there since 1851), and modern and stylish on the inside - to please the Scandinavians. Chelsea locals and foodies are more impressed by the grub, to which Christian Sandenfelt has introduced a Swedish slant. Marinated herrings come in superb sauces - the crayfish variety is delicious - with crisp bread and cheese to start. The weekend brunch menu features classic comfort food - pancakes with maple syrup and grilled back bacon, and fish and chips. Yum. Al fresco dining takes place upstairs on the large roof terrace. A high quality gastropub that hits the right spot every time.
