Restaurants like Mirabelle - and there are very, very few - are one of the big reasons people come to London. It's the sort of starry, sophisticated, beautiful, high-end dining experience that only a major city can sustain. With Marco Pierre White and chef de cuisine Philip Cooper steering the ship, you're bound to be in for a terrific ride. A jazz pianist tinkles away in the background as an elegant maitre d' guides smart diners through a pleasantly buzzing dining room to their luxurious seats. Get the drift? A great place for romance, celebration, business, or the simply the partaking of excellent food. What's cooking? French cuisine, employing the highest-quality ingredients and enjoying the most skillful preparation. Blinis a la russe with fromage blanc with chives and sevruga caviar, fabulous omelette Arnold Bennett with sauce mornay, caramelised wing of skate with winkles and jus a la parisienne, ribeye of best-hung Aberdeen Angus with escargot and sauce bearnaise, raspberry souffle 'Mirabelle', glace prune and armagnac. If you're on a budget, some careful choosing among the wines will reward you. If you're not, enjoy one of the grand vins. The meal deserves it.
