If Bangla Town in the East End of London is the crown of Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine (it is), then Ajwan is the sparkling diamond sitting proud at the top. Naturally enough, each restaurant in the area has its own style, tastes and atmosphere. Ajwan marks itself out as a modern, minimalist (recently refurbished) restaurant where you'll receive a warm welcome to an oasis of light and airy calm. Setting it apart most is the modern, creative Indian and Bangladeshi food, served up seven days a week. If kakra aloo kebab (fresh minced crab meat starter mixed with mashed potatoes, finely chopped onions and ginger rolled on cashew nuts and fried until golden) or golda chingri morrisha (tender pieces of grilled king size prawns in a hot sauce cooked with capsicum, onions and fresh green chillies) don't get you rubbing your tummy then like a hungry kid, well, you're just not a curry lover.
