Gravy is delighted to announce the arrival of a new chef, Todd Stuart from way south of the equator, who has been bringing a distinctly New World flavour to Gravy's already strong British fusion menu. Gravy should be the template for all ambitious local restaurants. The atmosphere is relaxed and buzzing, and full of romantic couples, business groups, and families, who relax on the aubergine banquettes. Original artwork dots the walls, and the whole place is enlivened by the passing scene beyond the shopfront windows. The menu changes frequently. We enjoyed seared venison on white bean and Mull of Kintyre cheese quesadilla with spicy fig chutney followed by roasted wood pigeon breast on bacon rosti with pigeon loin and foie gras raviolo with Madeira jus. Wow. The super-rich chocolate cake with macerated plums and Kent Cobb biscotti left us too full to move, so we just hung out for a while, sipping great coffee and watching the world go by.
