BFI London Imax Cinema

The BFI London Imax Cinema, located on the South Bank, is contained
within a glass-enclosed cylinder seven storeys high with a stunning
mural by Howard Hodgkin around the outside. It was opened in 1999
and was made possible thanks to £15 million from the Arts
Council of England's Lottery Fund. The London Imax boasts the UK's
biggest screen, with an 11,600-watt digital surround sound system
that helps to a create totally immersive experience.
Working together, these elements immerse viewers in larger-than-life
images and ultra-realistic digital sound, making them feel as if
they are literally "in the picture". You will be taken
on journeys to other worlds, fly above the earth, and dive into
the deepest oceans. The auditorium features 14 tiered rows of seats
that enable all viewerseven childrento enjoy full, unobstructed
views of the picture. The BFI London Imax Cinema is fully disabled-accessible,
with eight wheelchair spaces and an induction loop for hard-of-hearing
people.
