Indian cuisine just got hotter - thanks to Michelin-star awarded chef Atul Kochhar. Benares combines designer surroundings with culinary chic. The interior has been exclusively developed to reflect contemporary style with a relaxed atmosphere. The real lure, of course, is the food. Kochhar has ransacked his extensive knowledge of India to reflect a glorious array of exotic cuisine. This includes vegetarian South-India, so non-meat eaters will find a welcome variety of dishes. The range of appetisers showcase the subtle perfumes of Indian cuisine, with crisp lentil dumplings, aubergine steaks, and a range of other beautifully presented delicacies. Mains include a signature dish of Marathi Nalli Gosht - superbly tender lamb shanks with coriander and red chillies or try the Hari Machi pan fried John Dory marinated in mint and coriander marinade. Guests are spoiled for choice with the accompanying selection of breads, rich dishes, and vegetables, all prepared in Kochnar's expert blends of fragrant spices. Desserts provide a light and refreshing close, with home-made spiced ice-creams accompanying pastries, pancakes and tropical fruits.
